Cleansing The Temple

By SeashoreMary

People have forgotten that both the physical and spiritual temple of the Lord is a holy, sacred place solely for the purpose of prayer and worship to our God in heaven.

When we become lax or disregard the importance of prayer and do not stay away from sin, it can and does have an impact in our lives and for some, down to whether we live or die.

  • 12 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. (Matthew 21:12)
  • 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” (Matthew 21:13)

Jesus is angry that Father God’s temple has been defiled through the selling, bartering, and buying of goods. The Temple of the Lord is holy and sacred, not a market place for transactions (gossiping or back biting, or for petty differences).

So it is that when we, today, defile our minds and bodies by sinning:

  • You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. (Psalm 5:6)
  • · 16 These six things the Lord hates,Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. (Proverb 6:16-19)

The door opens to some form of destruction against ourselves (stricken with disease), our families, or our livelihood.

  • “The LORD will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. (Deuteronomy 28:20)
  • Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them. (Psalm 55:15)

Jesus Christ paid a high price for our salvation. He died so that we could be forgiven of our sins and reinstated our righteous position with Father God:

  • For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
  • You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. (1 Corinthians 7:23)
It’s not until the temple (both physically and spiritually) has been cleansed of the pollution (wrongdoing) that Jesus was able to bless the people who were receptive to Him, who came forward to receive God’s gift of healing:

  • 14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. (Matthew 21:14)

Acknowledging Your Sin and Why:

Recognize that you have done wrong—you sinned. Turn from your wickedness and ask the Lord for His forgiveness so that you can renew your inherent rightful place in your relationship to the Lord:

  • ‘…yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness’;
  • For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You (Psalm 5:4)
  • Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. (Psalm 7:9)

Repent and Ask for Forgiveness:

.

  • Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. (Psalm 51:1)
  • “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Repent, turn away from your idols, and turn your faces away from all your abominations. (Ezekiel 14:6)
  • “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. (Ezekiel 18:30)
  • From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17)
  • Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, (Acts 3:19)
  • Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. (Revelation 2:5)

Caution: Do not make it a habit to repent and then commit the same sin again the following day. However, I will say that if it’s a battle of temptation of wrong thoughts that you are having, facing a very difficult time not sinning again for the same offense, pray to the Lord for His help to overcome the sin:

  • A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness. (Psalm 101:4)
  • Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

He is faithful to forgive:

Be sincere lay your sin on His throne for Him to give you the help that you need, for His mercy, for His compassion, for His cleansing to ease off the burden from you:

  • Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

God the son, Jesus Christ, is a genuine gentle, yet powerful spiritual being. He cares, He loves, He fiercely protects His own, and He provides for all of our needs. He hovers over His chosen children who obey His word. He is always looking for someone who is interested in and cares enough to follow Him and enjoy the fruits of life that He has created to enjoy it with them.

I like to describe Him to friends this way: “El es tan Chulito!” “He is very, very beautiful/gorgeous!”

“Siempre te quiero Mi Amor!” (Always, I love you My Love!)
