Ever heard the phrase the “gray area” before? If you’ve lived much of life I’m sure you have. What does it mean to you? How much of the “gray area” do you live in and don’t realize that you’re doing it? The gray area affects possibly every area of a person’s life.
Not all Christians use the gray area all the time, at least not consciously or on purpose. There are possible times we may unknowingly use the gray area as crutches when we don’t know the for sure thing to do. When walking through life Bible verses help us to maintain a good spiritual balance when it comes to the gray area, as well as listening to the Holy Spirit.
Prayer is always good anytime on any issue where we do not find Bible verses that appear to directly link to our particular gray area. While walking through the narrow gate of life it is best to remember scripture that’ll help in all gray areas, like:
Matthew 7:13-14: 13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The scripture verses used applies to the gray area as well as the straight and narrow gate through which we must come to the Lord Jesus for eternal life. Using spiritual judgment and knowing the word of GOD keeps us walking on the right path straight and narrow it is, but should we choose to walk the way the world sees the gray area, we will walk the wide and destructive path. The devil uses the eyes of the world through the “gray area” of life to set us on a course of destruction, or at the very least many problems.
What does the “gray area” of life mean to us? It may mean that if there’s not a written law in the Bible, like the 10 commandments, or other scripture verses in the Bible, or a law on the books of mankind that spells it out specifically, that it is up to our own judgment whether it’s okay or not. That’s when the gray area presents itself to us and we need to know how to deal with our particular situation.
I do not know that there’s an answer that will be suitable for every person and situation, because there are many things that factor into each one. It is what Jesus places on each individual heart how to handle the present gray area, while walking the straight and narrow way through the gate of life.
